■ ' CAMP LIFE AND TREE-PLANTING. WORK FOR'THE CURED AND PARTI* • s -, ALLY CURED. A SUCCESSFUL BEGINNING. Tho Hon. D. Buddo, Minister of Publio Hoalthj intends in .the course of a fow weeks to visit tho .Consumption , Sanatorium at ' "to Waikato," near Cambridge, also tho' Karoro camp for "cuied" consumptive patients, _noar Rotorua. Tho Minister is favourable to tho schemo of providing outdoor work in suitable localities for "cured" ex-pationta of consumption hospitals. It is probabio that his visit to the north will result m the Government making further provision for the outdoor employment of persous who nave suffered tiom tuberculosis. At present there are twelve expatients at tho-Karere. camp, and they are -employed at tree-planting and the lemoval of 6crub. The men are paid ordinary wages for. the work they do, by tho Lands Department. SomC-of tho men havo done very wc|l, and have improved so much in health that they, havo left the camp and taken up ordinary work in other districts. iMany advantages are claimed for the development of tho camp sjstom.
