Tho beauties of the Waipu Gorge, which aro not so welFknown or advertised as they doaervd, were referred'.to by the Hon. J. A. Millar, Minister for Railways, at the banquet tendered to him ' at Whangaroi last evening. Mr. Millar, "who passed through the Gorge yesterday, said that while its beauty 'wao not so majestic and massive as that of tho Manawatu, Buller, or Otira Gorges, it .was quite as picturesquo as any of the southern gorges. Ho had never seen anything "pret'tier and. ho considered that the Tourist Department should include a visit to the, Waipu Gorge among its lists of scenic trjps. . ■ ___________
