Tonganro at the time of that vessel's collision in the English Channel with another vessel. '■'■< ••■'.! A committee meeting of tho Caledonian Society was hold on Friday night, at which ; thorp were present Messrs. J. E,. Graham (chairman), It. Lloyd, D.Munro (secretary), J Gerraud, H. L. Young,, and M'Kay. It nas decided to hold the annual sports meek ing as usual on Easter Monday. Gold medals and donations were offered by members of the association. . The Palmerston Norttr Jire Brigade held their usual monthly meetingon Friday evening. Superintendent C. C.iWarrier presided. The committeo were instructed to frame new rules for the guidance of' members: Foreman C. S. Rush was appointed to represent the brigade at the Auckland conference. A communication was received from the trustees of tho library granting permission to sell all the old and duplicate books in the library on condition thatthe money realised was expended in purchasing new books. ;
