EVENING SPORTS.
The sports meeting which takes place tonight under the auspices of;the Wellington Amateur Athletic' Club promises to be a very .successful one. There are three handicaps— 440 yards; 75 yards, and three mile—and the: entries are, respectively; 15, and 9, so that : closo finishes' may, be Expected'in'every ca.se.-- - Chief interest in -centred round the three-mile' race, in two well-knoivn champions—Sharp and" Mulcahy—are competing.'. Although' there is a ' big entry for the ira'ce,. the probability is/'that. one or .'other of the scratch : men will; secure first place. The general opinion.is : in favour of Sharp, who ;has. beeiv.in,active-training for three weeks. Mulcahy is also thought to have a good /chance; .for he has all; the .advantago so far 'as .training goes^he'ivas' in 'splendid condition when he won the .'provincial three-mile race on New .Year's Day. '
