Chrlstohuroh, January 23.- ' A fire was discovered at one o'clock this morning at a dwelling-house in Stanmoro Road, owned and occupied by A. T. Saunders. cab proprietor.- Mr. and Mrs. Saunders bad :to escape ...through a: window/. Saunders's house was insured for £425 in:the. National office; and £100 oh the furniture and £25 on' tho, sta\>le : .in:the; Bam©'office;; , n-:. , ;; , ■; •■•;'. , >«i' : The fire "■ brigade received at 10.40< p.m. yesterday a call from Kelburne, where -a four-roomed house on South Tdrraoe, occu-pied-by Mr. John Brook; was on fire. A howling, gale was blowing, and the:fire spread to a five-roomed houso, which wae in course of ;construotion. Both houses were completely destroyed. The four-roomed, house was owned by . Mr- Martin, of- -Manners Street, and'was insured in the State _Omco for £100. The otherwab being- built by Messrs. Ferkiri : Bros., of Ghuznoe Street. It is not known how tho fire originated. ' . • The Kro Brigade received a call to Riddiford .Street at ■ 1 o'clock this morning. A few rolls of print and .other goods caught fire ■■ in the drapery establishment of Isherwood arid TJrquhart.
