(FROM OCB SPECIAL BEPOIITER.) The Petone representatives at the Levin Fire Brigade competition on Anniversary Day were very successful. . The men who made tho trip were Firemen Shardlow, Guthne, Smith,-Lusty, and Price/ ;Potone won the five men manual competition, and was allotted third honours in the two men coupling event (Firemen.Shardlow and Guthrie). . Mr. W. Petone Borough Engineer, returned from aholiday trip on SaV urday morning. . Work on the eastern drainage scheme will be almost immediately resumed. ... . . • ■ .A visit to the rain catchment area above Horokoro has been decided upon by the Petone councillors to endeavour to find a solution of the water supply problem. At tonight s, meeting of the council the date for the.visit will probably be flecided. . i ~A long discussion'on■'plumbing licenses took a recent meeting of the Petone DOrough Council. The matter has now taken a.further: step,- and Councillor Smith has given notice that he will move at to-night's meeting -.—"That the minute of the meeting of .January 10, dealing with plumbers' licenses,, be rescinded." The intention of the mover, is that each case should be dealt with as it arises. / .. . - -- -. Tho Heretaunga' Boating Club have .been extremely unfortunate in the matter of weather for, their harbour excursion; which has had;,agam;,to. be postponed.
