Two very old residents of Greytown (says the local 'correspondent of ; Tun Dominion) have just passed away. Oho of those, Mr. J. Mend, SO years of age. has been a wellknown settler, in the district for almost half a century. The other; Mr. J. Smith, who died on Sunday, was 81 years of ago. The "Dannevirko Advocate" understands that tho Hon. A. W. Hogg, Minister for lloads and Bridges, has promised Mr. Hall M.P., that lie will mako a tour of tho Waipawa. electorate at an early date for the purpose of visiting the newer settlements,-and looking over tho roads of the-district generally. The "Hastings Standard" says that Mr. Hogg hopes to pay Hastings a visit shortly, and spend a day or' two in the district, .
