The only buildings at lieggio which remained intact were constructed on Dr. Capacoi's plan in 1006—built of hollow bricks, with vertical and 'horizontal wires, giving great elasticity. The Orient Company's steamer Ophir, learning of the disaster whilo she was approaching Italy, made every preparation for helping in the rescue work. The secondclass passengers uero quartered with the first, and tho second-class saloons and smoking room 9 wore convorted into hospitals. High tributes to tho assistance, rendered by tho steamer have been givon by Everybody on board, •, , London, January 11. A boy five years old was resoued at Mes» Bina yesterday. The shookg are now less frequent. Efforts are being made to resume business.
