The crops are very.heavy ■ -but labour is very scarce. The total "area 'on 'Banks Peninsula : closed for cocksfoot' is.about tho same as last season, and the : 'yield is expected to bo; an, average ono. A .month ago an .exceedingly, poor. crop, was ex-'; pected, butjthe recent rains havo changed tho ; outlook, and, tho cocksfoot has now outgrown tho goose grass. Of course, a good 'deaF of fog has shot up, and in some paddocks tares are growing strongly.
