REVENUE FOR THE YEAR.
NET INCREASE, £289,757. 'A CONSIDERABLE INCREASE IN EXPENDITURE. The Treasury Department has compiled a series of comparative tables dealing with tho revenue for the past three months, the past nine months, and the past year, and showing considerable increases as compared with tho corresponding periods of 1907. Out of '£1,281,850, falling due on Jannary 1, over £1,100,000 had been renewed to present holders. Tho figures showing tho expenditure for 1908 wore not yet available, but be believed they would show a considerable increase, and- this was a phase of the financial position which he intended to deal with .comprehensively at an carlv date.
