An apology tor Mr. nil- : liams, who had boon called away to Nelson, ' was received, and leave of absence granted., ; Dr: Purdjv medical officer, reported, tho existence of a suspected case of scarlet foyer- : :in a dwelling at the foot of Henry Street, near tho river bank. - • ■'■Tho clerk reported that tho work of extend- / , ing tho Main School had. been put in hand by;the Education -Board, and a tender let to Mr.-Harrison, who had applied for, and received,, the necessary building permit. A ■ building permit had been issued for 1 the erec- p ■tifcn of a dwolling on the main road for Mr.. ~ R. G. Mabey, and anothor; had- been issued for'the erection of a dwelling, in reinforced . concrete and timber for Mrs. M. Shaw, also q on',tho main road. Sparks- , man and Jowitt, at cacli, was acoepted. • It was decided to notify Mr. Jacob Geange • that his tender for the supply of metal would - v he* accepted bythoboard, on condition . that • the supply required was completed, within : ' twenty working days—days, on which, work > ' .was 'impossible owing .to. bad. weather/, or .< flooded river to be excluded. Failing his acceptance, the work was ordered to be given 1 ' ; to, tho next lowest tenderer on the , same -' conditions. It was .reported that, as soon as it became known that the county pound was ( " closed, half a dozen persons mado it a practo: £urn out.their: horses and cattle on 1 • tho Town District roads every day.
