Social at Nurses' Hostel. ' Last night a small informal dance was given -by members of the Trained Nurses' Association, at their homo in Willis Street. Three rooms , wero thrown open to the guests : the cjub-room was cleared for dancing, the sitting-room, set apart for music and cards, a,ntl supper was set in the diningroom, .where tho table was decorated with palms and white, marguerites. Among those present were Mrs. Kendall, -Miss fiunlop, Mr. and Miss Knowles, Rev. W. Fancourt, Mr. and Mrs. Richardson, Mr. and Miss Aitkon, Miss Cumming, Mr. and Miss Fama,. and Miss Greville. ' ■ Kia Ora Cuild. ' This 'morning the Kia Ora Centre of tho Girls' Realm Guild publishes a very attractive -programme for their concert to bo given on-Wednesday next, whon Mrs. Sutcliffe, their president, will, give several recitations, and many well-known singers and musicians will assist. ' It is understood that the. other branches, of the guild will do their best to make this concert a success. Weddings. • A quiet- wedding .was celobratcd in All Saints' Church, Palmerston North, on Tuesday morning, when, .'the/ llev. G. YoungAVoodivard officiating, Mr. Alfred Mitchell, second son 01 Mr. Geo. Wright, of Foxton, was married to Miss May \ ictoria, fourth daughter of Mr. Harry Colev, of Foxton. fho bride wore tailor-made navy blue travelling costumo and pretty white straw hat, trimmed with white tips and pink roses, relieved with champagne tulle, and carried a beautiful shower bouquet. She was' attended by two bridesmaids, viz., Miss Jarman, and little Miss Gwen Lawton, niece oi tho bride. Mr. .William Colcy,. brother of the bride, officiated as best man. Mr.-and Mrs., Wright will take, up their residence in Foxton. ■ ... ;
Considerable interest centred round a marriage ceremony thqt was performed at the Wesleyan Church, Feilding, on. Thursday, bv the Rev. ,C. ,B. Beecroft. The- contracting parties -are '.well-known ■ and popular in the .district -Mr. David. Cameron, -now residing at Taihape, and Miss Evelyn Mary Elizabeth Down, of Bunnythorpe. The bride, who was attired in a handsome gown of cream - Japanese silk, trimmed with silk lace insertion, and satin ribbon, wasi given• away by' Mr. J. ,S. Milson, an old friend of the family, one njso wore a bridal veil with orange blossoms, and carried a, lovely bouquet of. roses and white lilac and maiden hair fern. There were/two bridesmaids,' Misses Hilma Dafter and Bradey Miss Lenore Martin and Master Lilrod Milson acted . as. pages! Mr J Bradey. of Bunnythorpe, was best man, and Mr.- Chas. A progressive euchre party and musical evening was held in St. Peter's Schoolroom on Wednesday evening (writes a-correspon-dent from Pahiatua), when a large number of parents of the school children: and friends met to entertain Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Webb prior to their departure for Tokomaru. During. the oveiung Mr., W. Norre]l, on behalf of the hosts (and m the absenco of Mr. W. H. Hawkins, who sent an apology for being unavoidably absent), presented Mrs. Webb a handsome silver cpergne, while Messrs. Wilson, W, M Cardie, and others made speeches, full of appreciation and eood wishes. . . b
