"FOUND DROWNED."
An inquest was held at tho Morgue yesterday morning ,by Dr. A. M'Arthur, S.M., Coroner, concerning tho death of Eliza Jane Reeve, whoso body was found in a water holo near the dock'site on Wednesday.
Herbert Reeve, cook, husband of deceased; stated that ho resided at 15-Little Taranaki Street, and last saw his wife alive on October 15, when .she was in good health and perfectly sober. Witness went out in the aftornoon, leaving his wife in the house, and when he returned in ' the evening she'was not there. After waiting for two 'days' he informed the police that his wife was' missing. Deceased was subjcct to epileptic fits, but had not had ono for some time past. Sho was given to wandering about" the streets at times, and was not temperate in her habits. Deceased was 45 years of age, and was of a cheerful disposition. Witness did not know of anything that would cause her to >take her own life.
Ann Widdas, married woman, with whom deceased .had been living, deposed that when deceased left home at 6.30 p.m. on October 15 she was quite cheerful and perfectly sober.
Constable M'Kolrey stated that he was called to Clyde Quay at midday on Wednesday and found the body floating in a water hole near the dock sito. The body was -fully dressed, and showed no marks of violence.
A verdict of "Found drowned" was returned.
