CLUB WOMEN IN AMERICA.
Many very interesting reports of excellent work in different fields were presented at the'recent biennial of the General Federation of Women'.s Clubs (says an . American paper),-ono delegate reporting the planting of 6500 trees in the past year, through tile influence of the club-women of Connecticut. In North Carolina the club-women are trying to secure a law for a State Library Commission to introduce travelling libraries and to supervise public libraries. From Maine came the good njord that 5000 club members had succeeded in getting the llaine' colleges to issuo degrees to women this year'for the first time. The 15,000 club members in Pennsylvania specialised on sanitation and improvement in public health. In Ohio the members had caused the appointment of eight factory inspectors. The women of Arkansas, as ono of their noteworthy achievements, reported the acquisition of the old State House which was built under the direction of a cousin of George Washington, and this' they propose to use as a museum and headquarters.
