FRICTION AT AUCKLAND. |B7' TXLEGBAPn—PBES3 ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, October 29. ■At the meeting of the Trades and Labour Council, Mr. J. N. Harle, the Labour candi~ date for City East, was taken to task for some remarks which he had made at one of his recent, open-air meetings. One speaker declared that Mr. Harle had advocated the policy of Free Trade' in direct contravention to the platform of the Labour party, and ho moved:—'-'That Mr.-Harle be asked to keep to the platform laid down, or to resign m favour of someone else who would." The. motion was seoonded and carried. Indignation was also expressed , at the action of . Messrs. J. W. Browne and G. M'Knight candidates for the electorates of Grey Lynn and Parnell respectively, in classing themselves as Labour candidates, when they were not the accredited representatives of the party. THE HON. J. At a meeting of the Christchurch Operative Bootmakers' Society, held in the Trades Hall on Wednesday night, the following resolution . was ' carried . unanimously' 'That this union wishes Mr. J. W. Munro. the Labour.candidate for Dunedin West, every success in his fight against the Hon. .'J. A. Millar, who, by the introduction of various clauses in the Arbitration Act Amendment Bill, has proved himself the enemy of organised labour,' and as such forfeits , all vestigo of claim to the sympathy and confidence of all true Liberals, as these clauses were embodied in the Bill at the request of the employers and in the face of trade union opposition. It urges upon all workers and Liberals in the Dunedin West electorate to support Mr. J. W. Munro at the coming election." ".
