(BY TELEGRAPH— PRESS ASSOCIATION.) ' _ i . Dunedln, October 29. the third; session of the fourteenth Anglican Synod concluded its business this evening. •
t ™ w , a V eported tllat between £3000« and £4000 had yet to be raised before the diocese was entitled to olaim the amount left under the will of the late Mr. W. Harrop, wherewith to build a cathedral. It was resolved that assessments for tho future be based on a percentage of all general offertories, subscriptions, incomo from ondowmfcnts, and property and seat rents, such basis of assessment to come into operation' after next synod. Further discussion took placo with clergymen's stipends, which was unanimously agreed to. _ It was also agreed that the standing committee, having power to add to its numbers, consider the wliolo question during the next twelve months. Members wero unanimously of the opinion that cleruvmen were shamefully underpaid.. , J
