Notes from Apiti. When Sir 1 Joseph Ward visited , Apiti to open tlio new post office, says a correspondent from that district, Lady Ward was entertained at morning tea by Miss Scully, who is in charge of the office. Lady Ward was accompanied by Mrs. Trowin, of Feilding, and Mr. Lethbridgo and Mesdames Osborno and Gregory wero asked to meet them. The room looked exceedingly pretty, being decorated with ferns, clematis, and other bush flowers, of which theio aro a profusion just at present. The road between ICimbolton and Apiti, which winds through, a bush gorge, is looking simply beautiful with clematis and Native shrubs covered in berries. _ • The Anglican congregation with their friends and sympathisers are busily engaged in working up a fancy fair for early in December._ The proceeds are to be devoted, to parish needs, and as the vicar, Mr. Mayo, is highly esteemed by all denominations _in this largo district, tho fair has the good wishes of all for a successful issue. Mr. and Sirs. Ormiston ■ Chant, who have been on a visit to Christchurch and Dunedin, returned to Wellington yesterday. Mr. Justice Williams and Mrs. Williams have gone down to Dunedin. ■Mrs. Hunter-Brown, of Nelson, who arrived from Palmerston North yesterday, _is spending some days with Mrs. Humphries in Portland Crescent. Mr. Harry Muller, manager of Palmerston Opera House, and secretary of the Manawatu Rugby Union, is to be married at Wellington on November 24, to Miss Dorothy Sheath now of Sydney, but formerly of Wellington. Miss Sheath is a clever pianist and singer.
