RECORD FOR THE DOMINION. WELLINGTON'S FINE TOTAL. "Magnificent," is Lieutenant-Colonel Knight's verdict on the result of the annual self-donial effort of the Salvation Army in New Zealand for the present year. Tho result of the month's collection for the wholo Dominion is £11,610, as compared with £10,870 collected last 1 year, an increase of £740. The North Island 1 collection totals £6930,' as against £5756 last year, an increase of £1174. Auckland City has increased its quota from £415 to £520, and Wellington's contribution, has leapt up from £655 to £1075. The total amount collected in the South Island is £4680. It is thought that the sum raised in Wellington City forms a world's record for tho work of one corp. In both Islands very favourable weather was experienced during the period of collection, and this is an important factor, especially in tho back country, ivhero roads aro bad. Colonel Knight states that he is delighted with the response made, and full of gratitude to those who have assisted to achieve the result. The spirit of both officers and soldiers throughout the province was all that could be desired. A cable message received by the Anny authorities from Melbourno last night states that the total of collections for Australasia is £33,717, as compared with £32,935 raised last year, an increase of £782. The figures for the separato provinces are as follow:— Melbourne, £2290; Ballarat, £1511; Bendigo, £1222; South Australia, £3175; Sydney, £2503; Bathurst, £2423; Armidale, £1840: Brisbane, £2050; Townsville, £1G50; Tasmania, £1200; West Australia, £1602; South Island, Now Zealand, £4070; North Island, £0930. proceeds of self-denial month form tlio main fund for tlio Army's social work. The Australasian, New Zealand, North Island, and Wellington City returns this year all constitute records. The results wcro announced by limelight lantern amidst groat enthusiasm at a meeting hold in the Vivian Street Citadel last evening.
