A new big- battleship,' an improvement on the St; Vincent, will bo begun at Portsmouth on January 1 next., She has . been provisionally named tho Foudroyant. The St. Vincent, whose armament has already been referred to in these columns, out-Dread-noughts the Dreadnought. The new ship is to go oiie better again- It was previously an-nounced-that she is to-cost 1\ millions, and to take eighteen months to build. A. tonnago of 21,000 has been mentioned, and the report of an armament of 13.5 in. guns has been revived. It has even been said, by the "Daily Mail," that the new battleship may be minus funnels, being gas-propelled. . : / '
