On Saturday evening a very jolly little dance was given by the boarders and the elder day-boys of Miss Sommerville s School. It was given in tho largo schoolroom, which presented a very attractive appearance when all the childrenxwero there, tho little girls, in, their dainty white frocks and the boys in their smart white uniforms of their school. Miss Sommervillo had several assistants who took caro that all the children had a very good time, among them wero Misses Miles, Doughty, Armstrong, White, Knox, and Perkins. . ' Toy Tea at the Y.W.C.A. . The , members of the Y.W.C.A., with an idea of further adding to . their stores ,of goods for tho coming bazaar, gave a toy tea at the rooms 'on Saturday afternoon, when tho guests were requested to bring articles for tho children's stall, and as about seventy visitors were present a great number of articles were received. Friends at the Hutt had sent in a quantity of beautiful flowers, which very effectively decorated tho room during the afternoon, and wero sold for tho good of the\association' later on. There was a word competition, which was won by Miss L. Ross and Miss D. Cornish, and a little concert programme, which included a pianoforte solo by Miss.Sewell, duet by Miss 801 l and Miss White, and a song ,by Miss Gladys' Pees. A feature of the afternoon's entertainment was the balcony sceno from "Romeo.and Juliet," which was rendered with- dramatic effect by two -of-the members, and. much appreciated by the audience. Mrs. T. W. Hi slop made-a pleasant little speech, and called for volunteers to help, in the work of collecting for the Ambulance Association next ' Saturday. Several-of the members promised to help. , The boys attending Miss_ Sommerville's Preparatory.. School are holding"-their school sports at tho'school on Friday, November 5. Mr. and Mrs. W.
