Frequently during the pieco, and at the fall of the final curtain> the enthusiasm displayed was most ardent. "Mrs. Wiggs." has been a distinct' success in Auckland. Nest at tho Opera House, J. C. Williamson presents this charmiug play in Wellington, with'a company entirely Tiew to New Zealand. The ever-ro--sourceful Mrs. Wiggs, equal to any occasionand with a heart of overwhelming proportion! is stated to be ono of the most lovablo and lifelike characterisations in the . history of the American drama. She snaps her fingers in the faco of adversity, no misfortune is so great that it might not be worse. Her poverty only emphasises the blessing of the few good things sne has to enjoy because she is poor and sees nothing to covet in riches. Now and then, the miseries of her surroundings _ excite pity, but the tearß of sympathy quickly give way to the tears of ' mirth. Every other character, like tho Cabbage Patch itself, is stated to be true to life. Anyone, it is said,-who has evinced the least interest in his fellow men has seen just such persons as Mrs. Wiggs, Lovey Mary, Mis' Hazy, Miss Lucy, Mrs. Eichorn, Mrs. Schultz, Mr. Stubbins, Mr. Bob—in fact, all the rest who figure in Mrs. Alico Hcgau Rice's books and tho dramatisation of tin same made by Sirs. Anne Crawford Flexner. Mrs. Rice lias given in the delightful character creation of Mrs, Wigps a unique personality. The box plan will be opened at tho Dresden on Wednesday.
