PETONE TECHNICAL SCHOOL.
TROUBLE -WITH THE BOAKD. A LIVELY. DISCUSSION. Last night's meeting of the Board of . Managers of the ketone Technical School waa of more than usual interest, as the proposal to provide accommodation for secondary pupils camo up for discussion. The matter was . brought up by the following letter from Mr. G. L. Stowart; secretary of the Eduear tion Board"Regarding application for grant for furniture, etc.—please advise the probable numbers of pupils who will be re- • oeiviug instruction in the subjects-mentioned below.' This information is required by tho Department: Cookery, dressmaking, physics, mechanical drawing, architectural drawing, plumbing, carpentry, and art." The chairman (the Rev. A. Thomson) said tho letter was not forwarded to them, so that they might know the object of tho Department in asking for this return. They sent the application for furniture, but had no >reply from tho Department, but a note from Air; Stewart asking that ho be sup- . plied with the returns, as tho Department tfas anxious to get them. .... A member: This seems an inquisitive way : of doing business. It has only oocurrei lately. ' Mr.'Findlay: They want to run tho Technical Sobool. The Chairman: They can't do that. Mr. Findlay: -They are not gainj t-o do that. (Imuehter.) He mored that th« M»*agcr's ask {bat the conrausication b« forwarded to them. Mr. Findlay: And hope that in future the board will mind its own ■ business. (Laughter.) r •' < ■ Mr. Mothes seconded the motion, which i was carried unanimously. Mr. Motlies then moved that the chairmaa nnd secretary liavo power to give the information as to the approximate uunibor of pupils. . Tho motion was earned.
