PUBLIC SERVICE SUPERANNUATION.

MEETING OF THE BOARD. - The new board constituted under the Publio Service Classification and Superannuation - Act, 1908, met for the first time yesterday, _. there being present; — Dr. Fitchett .(Solicitor-General), Messrs. J. W. Poynton (Public Trustee), R. J. Collins (Secretary to the Treasury), G. Hogben (Inspec-tor-General of Schools), W. T. Grundy, and\Vm. Foster (North Island teachers' representatives), and Hughes and Davidson (South Island). . Mr. Hogben presided, ill the absence of a Minister. Threo teachers who had reached the retiring age were granted retiring and thrco_ contributors who had been certified as being medically unfit to ; continue in tho service of tho Education Department wero superannuated. Twenty-eight contributors who had retired from tho service before reaching tho ago limit were granted refund of their contributions, without interest. There were, at the end of September, 2932 contributors in tho fund. Since the previous meeting of the Teachers' Superannuation Board, fifty-oight contributors had been added t and forty had left.
