In connection with the want-of-confidence resolution moved in the Legislative Assembly over tho action of the Government in paying two Judges extra salary to do work usually performed bv three, on the resumption of the debate, the Premier (Captain Evans) read a letter from the Judges notifying that if extra pay was voted they would not accept it. The Premier, therefore, moved that the amount be struck out. This was carricd. During the debato the Premier intimated that tho Judges intended to refund £250 extra that thoy had already received.

Ratjen and R. R. Parnbam wero returnod unopposed for tho Auckland district, and Messrs. J. A. Haslett and B. S. Scofiold for tho Otago district. Tho abovo gentlemon hold offico for tho period of two yews from January 1 next.
