VANISHING BEAUTY.
Maybe now that a hair specialist has predicted prematuro grey-hoadedness for the rising- generation,-mothers will be less crazed oil sending their children about without hats, and the bat-less brigade will diminish in numbers (says an English .journal). A resident at a very well-known seaside resort recently stated ! that he • had never. noticed so many hatless. visitors of all ages at that particular place as there, havd.been this summer, and not one child in a dozen is now .to be seen anywhere in a hat or bonnet.. This exposure of the head to the sun will assuredly result, we are now told, in a generation of prematurely white-haired men,and women. We-shall be lucky (continues our. contemporary) if we escape as easily as this. One fears an even worse fate; must befall some poor infants, who lio, without a bair to their heads, for hours in the fierce sunlight. - If all the predictions of scientists are fulfilled, we may congratulate ourselves that wo shall not enjoy tho pleasure of the acquaintance' of our descendants, who, one way and aiiother, will not bo tho most attractive folk in the world. Not only will they bo toothless and bald, stunted in statur.o if they are of the opposite sex, and huge in sizo if they are women, bnt. it is now foretold that they will all snore heavily • as a matter of; course, whether they are men or women 1 Imagine,a house full-of 'guests all snoring like ancient pug-dogs., However, perhaps, by that timo it.will be permissible to " lethal." -those who excn«l -'certain;'limits.
