FIRE IN THE CITY.

A fire broke out early this morning in the promises of Messrs. Matterson and Fitzgerald, a'bicyclo bhop 'on.Lambton Quay, opposite the New Occidental Hotel. A portion of the back of the premises wa-s gutted, and considerable damage was done to the stock, while it is also • feared . that smoke and water have damaged the stock of the music establishment next door. The Fire Brigade quickly suppressed the flames. The cause of the firo is not known. \
