THE INVITATION TO AUSTRALIA. (BY TELEGRAM—TOESS ASSOCIATION—COI'TIIICHT.) Melbourne, October 15., The Earl of Dudley (Governor-General of Australia), through the Secretary for tho Colonics (tho Earl of Crewo), has recoived a reply to an invitation to President Roosevelt to visit Australia. It states that the President vory deeply appreciated tho courtesy of tho invitation, especially in view of the more than genorous hospitality tho pooplo of Australia had everywhere shown tho American Fleet. It would not bo possiblo for him after visiting Africa to visit A\istralia, but ho most earnestly hopes that somo day it will bo his good fortuno to make a trip to tho giant young Commonwealth of tho vSouth Seas, upon the. future growth and succoss of which so much depends for tho wholo civilised world.
