In connection with the Methodist Sunday school anniversary next Sunday, Mr. Geo. Tiller, superintendent of tho Taranaki Street Sunday school, Wellington, is to give a demonstration of sand-tablo and blackboard work. The Wanganui A. and P. Association has paid Mr. A. J. Hart the compliment of asking him to judgo the home industries class at their show. i Mr. Boucher, the Government Pomologist, has consented to deliver one of tho series of technical lectures arranged for at tho Feilding technical school. TAHIATUA. ; Mr. 11. Lee, chairman of the Education Board, in conjunction with Mr. A. M'Dougall, inspected the new school-buildings and expressed complete'satisfaction with the work done by tho contractor. ; The cricket season was informally opened on Wednesday, a number of members turning up and participating in useful practice. The Pahiatua Gun Club held the first shoot of tlj.o season in Mr. George Oxley's paddock, on Wednesday afternoon, when tho medal presented by Mr. P. O'Dowd was competed for and won by Mr. W. Cooper with nineteen out of twenty-one birds, Messrs. Oxley (seventeen) and R. Hughes (sixteen) were sccond and third. The. committee met on the ground after tho match, and completed arrangements : for the shoot on the King's Birthday, the secretary reporting promises from some of the_ best shots in the Dominion to take part in tho programme which includes prizes of £25 and several open sweepstakes. ■ , Tho.annual social of the Mangatainoka Football Club was held on Wcdneslay alight jn the Library Hall, and proved a great success. Tho . junior team, who were unbeaten (luring the season, were presented with caps. Tlio Konini Ladies' Hockey Club finished the season with a highly successful social in the Konini Public Hall, oil-Wednesday evening, when a large number of and friends were present, and heartily enjoyed themselves. EKETAHUXA. \ According to a report presented to the Ekotahuna School Committee at its monthly meeting tho. other evening,' states the "Express," the teacher's residence has not been repapered for over seven years, thero was no bath, at least four rooms leaked in wet weather-, and in- several places, the kitchen range is worn out, the verandah is rotten in places, the'spouting attached-to the roof was in need ot extensive repairs, and the tank stand was so rotten as to be in danger of collapsing at any moment.
