George'Fowlds, Minister for Education unci Public Health, arrived to-day from "Wellington by the Rarnwa. Asked regarding the work of the session, Mr. Fowlds said:—' "I tliink, considering it was the .last ; session of the Parliament, that thero has boon better work done than I'ever remember before with a dying Parliament during tho tihie I have.bceiV a member of tho House. For instance,'.tha amendment, to tho Conciliation aud Arbitration Act ;was a • very important measure-in the interests .of both the employer and the employee. .' I'-think that the amendment passed during the session just closcd will have -the beneiicial effects in the future of there being more conciliation and less arbitration. . . - "The Education Act Amendment Act is a very important advance. In fact, the most important'.sinco .the passing of tho Education Act in 1887. I have received a number of congratulatory messages from educational bodies all over tiio Dominion. "Tho amendment of the Superannuation Act," continued' Mr. Fowlds, "has also greatly- improved the' position of teachers with reference to superannuation. "Another .measure., for. tlip benefit,of. the workers that was'passed last session'was 1 the Compensation Act Amendment Act, which defines more clearly tho position with rcferonco ;to (fompensation >for acoident. "Altogether, I think wo liavo every cause to feel satisfied; with' tho ■ work put-through last session."
