MANAWATU SHOW.
INTERESTING MATTERS. GOVERNOR AND CABINET MINISTERS TO ATTEND. An ordinary meeting of the Manawat-u A. and P. Association was hold yesterday (says our correspondent). Included in the correspondent was an intimation from Lord l'lunket that ho would open tlie show on November 4, and also an intimation that the Premier and members of the Ministry would attend the show if their duties permitted. Mr. Clifton, Director of Experiment Farms, wrote that ho would use his best endeavours to get some of the Government stock to tho show, but it was barely likely that tho Main Trunk lino would be open in time to allow stock from tho northern farms to be sent. The Railway Department also wrote that the usual excursion service would bo run, but if tho Main Trunk lino was open several alterations would be necessary. The Horse Schedule Commjtteo's proposal that Mr. W. Strang's special prize of £10 be allotted in the steeplechaso competition on the second day was adopted. It was decided to invite tho officers, petty officers, and men of H.M.S. Encounter, 120 of whom will bo attending the military tournament at Palmerston in show w.cek, to be present. Complimentary tickets will bo issued to them. Mr. Jacob, and Mr. S. W. Luxford were appointed examiners in tho scholarship competition, which will be supervised by Professor Lowrie. All matters in connection with the Dairy Scjiool were referred to the Finance Committee to act in conjunction with a special committee set up for tho same purpose. Tho Canvassers Committee reported that townspeople had subscribed £542 towards tho show funds, which, with £100 subscribed in "Wellington, made a record total of £642.
