ROSENEATH RATEPAYERS.

A meeting of the Roseneath Ratepayers' Association was held in the schoolroom. last ; evoning, Mr. C. iMonaghan in the chair. - Messrs; .T. Dick-(president) and T. Johnson (secretary) having left tlio district,- the meeting 'appointed Messrs. Monaghan \and ; T. W. Ward to the respective positions. A resolution was passed that tlio City Council bo asked for a reply to the .'.petition regarding lighting and repairing tlio footpath 011 the lower sido of .Maida Viiloltoad. The secretary was instructed to write to tlio council, asking them to have -lamps placed on the thoroughfare from the tram terminus round Point Jerninghain and Ballena Bay. It was further dccided to urge tlio council to give immediate attention to. thelighting of tlio whole suburb. 0110 member: pointed out that as often as ten niglits per month 110 lamps whatever were lit, and on very dark evenings pedestrians were taking serious risk of accident. Mention was made of the iron kerosene bond, and of tlio dangerous practice of burning rubbish intho vicinity. In caso of fire there was great danger to all houses on the side of the hill. \ It was resolved: "That the City Council be' asked to have the kerosene bond remoy<»i" '
