The New Zealand Shipping Company advise that the ICaipara will leavo Wellington on Thursday for Auckland, to commence Home' ward loading. ItIMUTAKA ARRIVES HOME. A Press Association message re'borts' that the N.Z. Shipping Company's liner Eiihntaka arrived in Plymouth on Friday. The vessel, which occupied 10 days on the run Home/ left Wellington on August 30. ■ THE HINEMOA. On Friday night' the Government steamer Hinemoa arrived in Greymouth from her West Const tour. The Marine Department received word on Saturday that her search for any signs of tho missing Loch Lomond was unsuccessful. The vessol arrived bock in Wellington soon after midday yesterday. On Saturday the French stoamer Briez Izel left Port Chalmers for Noumea. Cantain Leech is now in charge of the West, port Harbour, Captain Furneaux having gone on a sis weeks' holiday trip. To-day the Union Company's steamer RatanOa is oxpected to leavo Westport for Pictou and Wellington, and is due here on Wednesday. The Hawea leaves Westport to-day for Timaru and Dunedin.
Advice received by the local agents states that the Australian Mail liner Boveric, which left .San Francisco for Auckland on September 25, is timed to leave Auckland on' the return voyage on October 23. The steamer Capo Breton, which'has ; visited New Zealand several times during the last three yoars, has again been chartered to load general cargo at New York for Melbourne, Sydhev, Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Port' Chalmers: According to the / "Lyttelton Times," Cajitain Newton, of tlie-Moana, in speaking of the fog signal, at Godley Head, stated that the sound of tho explosions could not be heard at sea . west, of N. 1-. Haslaiu, New Zealand manager of Millar's West Australian Hardwood Company, lias been advised that the barque Ashmoro left Buubury this week for Wellington with a cargo of jarrah. It is understood that she is Bringing about COO,oooft. Mr. A. Woodnutt, lato chief officer of the Ta'sman, has passed' his examination- as first mate of' a.'-foreign-going vessel. Ho studied at Gilford's Navigation School, Wellington. Arrangements have been made for . tho schooner- Kereru to proceed from Wellington to Blackball- to ship a cargo of timber for discharge at Miramar under consignment to tho Easson Timber Company. Tho Cliristchurch "Press" reports that the Union Company's chartered steamer Otterburn is to sail from Lylteltoh to-day' for Timaru and Oamaru to complete discharging her cargo of coal. Thence the vessel will probably go to Bluff and on to Auckland, on her way to Sydney. It is understood that her chartor oxpires at the end of this month. A noticoablo feature of the chartering business for vessels to transport the new season's wheat from Australia to tho United Kingdom or Continent is that largo tramp steamers arc boing freely engaged. In past years the bulk of the grain exported from Australia lias been carried ill sailing ships. The l.rinle-scrcw steamer Orari is now being completed at Dumbarton for tho New Zealand Shipping Company, and should leave shortly on her maiden trip (o New Zealand, sftys "tho Cliristchilrch "Press." Tho. first Orari owned by the company was a little clipper ship, which mado many fast trips between New Zealand and London. Leaving Port Chalmers in March, 1577, she made a wonderfully fast passage Home. Her time from port to port was G9 days, and from the New /ealand coast to the English Channel' G3 days.
