A long discussion oil the question of im« posing'a limit on the weight of trout to bo taken in one day took placo at a meeting' of thd South Canterbury Acclimatisation Society at Temuka. At a previous meeting a resolution was passed by one vote fixing the limit at 601b. An attempt was made on Thursday to rescind that. decision, but it failed. Dr. Hayes then gave notice to more that a limit of 1121b. should be fixed. The fish which was '-caught .at Caroline Bay, Tiniaru, recently, . and which was sent - Homo to Mr. G. A. Bulengcr, F.R.S., of the British Museum, for identification, has been pronounced by him to_ be a (juinnat. Mr. Bulenger says: "I beliove this salmon is supposed to return to' fresh water only onco to spawn, and that it then dies. . It is tho fish which the late Sir Hose Price'often urged me to do all I could to keep out of our (British) rivers, as it will not take a fly, and is subject to .a horrible skin disease. Sir Hose knew it ill its nativo waters."
