WELLINGTON PRESBYTERY.
KELBURNE ARRANGEMENTS. The "Wellington Presbytery met yesterdaj tlio Moderator K (the Rev. J. Gibson Smith) presiding. A letter was received stating that the Theological College in Dunedin would bo finished in February, and submitting for consideration proposals affecting the curriculum and tho appointment of a principal, which will have to bo decided by the General Assembly next month. The. proposals .wero generally approved. The Rev. A. T. Thompson (Masterton) read tho draft report oil tho progress of church union during the year, for submission to the General Assembly. The Moderator stated that he had continued negotiations with various ministers ill respect of Kclburnc. Olio applicant,'with a- family, had declined to take the charge on hearing that tho stipend was no mora than £180. A meeting of the Kelburno congregation would therefore be held on Friday week, at which the congregation could express their views. lf> they did not agree, to increase tho salary, it looked as though they would have to bo content to get tho services of a student for the summer months. A suggestion was made that Wadestown might be separated from the Onslow charge, and joined to Kelburne, which would enablo the salary to bo increased by £50. On tho motion of the Rev. W. Shirer, a resolution of sincere gratitude was passed to tho Rev. W. J. Comrie for his services at Kelburno. The Rev. A. T. Thompson stated that £lio foundation stone of tho new church 'at Eketalnma would be laid this month. The church will hold from 130 to 150 persons. It was reported that the additions to tlm Khandallah Church were, n'ow completed, adding considerably to the appearance am? accommodation of the building. Tho Rev. W. Shirer stated that a card had been'propared inviting immigrants to tho. fellowship of the Presbyterian Church, and notifying them of preachers and hours or services. The cards will be distributed to immigrants when they arrive. The Rev. W. Marshall was appointed to tho Records Committee of the Assembly," and tho Rev. W. Shirer to the Bills" and Business Committee. Mr. Shirer asked that complete statistics hc;ild bo forwarded to the Rev. F. B. Eraser, convener of the Statistics Committee.. The Rev. A. T. Thompson stated that ar- • rangements were well in hand for the summer school for young men and young women, which is to bo held' this year at Masterton.
