MUSIC EXAMINATION.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES. The results of the Trinity College practical examinations in music are now available. Out of 119 entries, 107 took part in . the examination, of whom 92 passed and 15 failed.. The examiner (Mr. Saint-George) expresses himself as satisfied with the general excellence attained, and considers that, as far as he has yet seen,' the work of the New Zealand pupils is gratifying. There are six medals for allotment. Senior Division. ■ The Dresden Piano Company and tho "Anonymous Donor's" medals were awarded respectively to the first and second candidates in this division: — Elizabeth Shirer 87 Irene Aicken 86 Though another candidate tied with Miss Aicken, the examiner awarded the medal to this young lady for superiority in tho test picce. Tho Convent pupils, though far ahead, did not .compete; the examiner, however, remarked upon the very high order of tuition at that school. Intermediate Division. Tho local committee's and Messrs. Clias. Begg and Co.'s medals go respectively to:— Annie Smith 86 Eglantine Rayward 85 Junior Division. Tho Martha Myers Memorial Medal, presented each year by Mr. Judah Myers, goes to:— Bessie Gard 87 Miss Lily Francis tied in points, but as Miss Gard scorcd full marks in two sections, the examiner awarded tho medal to her. The Plunket Medal for the Dominion will be decided before Mr. Saint-George leaves ; tho Bluff. ■ ;
