WELLINGTON AUTOMOBILE CLUB
The third annual meeting of the Wellington Automobile Club was- held at the Empire Hotel. Mr. G-. W. Shirtcliffe, vice-president, occupied the chair. Tho - annual report stated:—"During tho year the first annual confcrenco of tho New Zealand Automobilo Association was held in Wellington and was presided over by tho president, but only a tew delegates from other clubs wero ablo to bo present. Rules wero adopted and delegates for the next conference, which will be held in Christchurch during November. A run was arranged on the Saturday following the conference, visitors and members of the club having been kindly invited to afternoon tea by Mr. and Mrs. G. Shirtcliffc at their country houso, Upper Hutt, where a pleasant afternoon was spent. It was resolved that tho officers cease to be ex-officio members of committee and that tho committee be increased by four members, making nine in all. The following new members were elected: Messrs. A. do B. Brandon, William Chrichton, G. W. Shirtcliffc, and Dr. Gibbs. Your committco liopo that during the present year members will-take more interest in the club and help to make any functions organised as' successful as possible." Tho balancc-sheet showed that there was a credit balanco of £35 17s. lid. Assets amounted to £86 ss. lid., liabilities nil. Tho report and balancc-shcet were adopted. Tho following officers wero elected for tho present year:—President, 'the Hon. T. W. Hislop; vice-presidents, the Hon. Dr. Findlav, tho Hon. Dr. Collins, Dr. Gibbs, Messrs. A. do B. Brandon, W. H. P. Barber, M.P., C. Elgar, G. AV. Shirtcliffe, J. J. Williamson, and T. 51. Wilford, M.P.; committee, Messrs. A. do B. Brandon, Wm. Crichton, T. Inglis, J. H. Owen, G. W. Shirtcliffe, H. Wanloll, J. •J. Williamson, Drs. Gibbs and I'rendergastKnight; lion, secretary, Mr. C. M. Banks; lion, treasurer, Mr. E. Buchols!; lion, auditors, Messrs. Oswald Beore and A. E. Whyto. Tho" proposal of the committee to hold a two dnvs' reliability trial was confirmed. The route will bo from Wellington via Masterton, l'aliiatua, Palnierston North, l'aekukariki, and .back to Wellington. A stop will be mado the first day either at Pahiatua or Palnierst-on North. A gold medal will bo awarded to each car which makes a nonstop run on the two days. As the ears liavs to go over tho Rimutakas and the Paekakariki Hill, the test will 1.-e vory severe for such a short run. The date of the trial will bo dedded by the committed at an early date.
