« ' • MEETING OF ASSOCIATION MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. The first meeting of this year's management. committee of the Wellington Cricket Association was held last night. There wero two nominations lor the position of chairman for the year—Mr. S. Jacobs and Mr. M. F. Luckie. Oil a ballot being taken, Mr. Luckie obtained the larger number of votes. Iu returning thanks, Mr. Luckie remarked that tho closest possible attention would have to be paid to matters of finance this year. Although two big matches had been played hero last season, and littlo expense had been incurred in connection with the sending away of a touring team ; tho receipts had not exceeded tho expenditure. ' • _ Tile .Newtown Club notified the committee that it would not require tho use of a practice wicket on tho Basin Reserve this year. Tho Wellington Rugby Union had, it was stated; prepared a wicket on tho Athletic Park, wliero tho chjb would open, its season next Monday evening. In connection with this matter, the chairman remarked that the Rugby Union had granted permission to the club'to use the wicket until, the arrangements between the union and tho association with a view to tho latter using the park during.' the season were completed. The secretary reported that the following teams had already been entered in connection with"' tho competitions this season Senior: Wellington College Old Boys, Wellington, Gas Company, Phoenix, Pctone, Y.M.C.A., Midland, Newtown, and Waiwetu. Junior: Johnsonville, Wellington College Old Bovs, Wellington College, Wellington (2), Victoria College (2), Gas Company (2), Phoenix, Wadostown, Petono, Y.M.C.A. (2), Newtown, Waiwetu, and St. John's. Third-class: Wellington College Old Boys, AVellington College (2), Victoria College, Phoenix, Hawthorne, St. Mark's, Karori, Potone, Newtown, and St. John's (2). Fourth-class: .Johnsonville, Wellington College Old Boys, Aspland, St. Mark's, Wadestown, Karori, and Petone. The senior, championship committee submitted a report with, respect to various grounds. It was resolved that tho first round of senior. matches be played on the Basin Reserve, and that the senior _ championship committee bo instructed to inspect the Waiwetu ground at tho conclusion of tho first round, with a view to seeing whether senior matches should be played there. The application of .the Petone Baptist C.C. for'affiliation was granted. ' ~ . Mr. A. J. Cathie resigned from the position of a member of the third-class and fourth-class match committee. It was agreed that tho remaining members be asked to propose someone to fill the vacancy.
