FRANCO-BRITISH EXHIBITION.

NEW ZEALAND'S DISPLAY HAMPERED. Soveral adverse criticisms of New Zealand's display at tho Franco-British Exhibition have been lately quoted in The Dominion. Possibly tho explanation of anything lacking exists in tho following complaint recorded by Mr. Cameron in tho Industries Department's annual report:— "After considerable and protracted negotiation with tho executive of the \ FrancoBritish' Exhibition, a site for the New Zealand Court ,was secured in a highly satisfactory position at Shepherd's Bush. Tho oxecutivo undertook to provide a pavilion for tho New Zealand exhibits, 120 ft. long by 50ft. wido. I regret, however, that tho work undertaken by tho executive has not met with that expedition which could havo been desired, and which from tho promises mado by tho responsible authorities had been anticipated. Every endeavour has been mado to mako a representation worthy of tho Dominion. A fine and comprehensive collection of oxhibits has been got together by tho Department of Industries and • Commerce, which has been recoived hero in ample timo to onablo them to be placed in position ready for tho opening date. Designs havo been prepared, and tho whole arrangement of tho court settled. Unfortunately, possession of tho building cannot be obtained, it being yet far from completion. It has, therefore, been necessary to . store all tho exhibits on arrival. Tho attention of tho CommissionerGeneral has repeatedly been directed to the slow progress that is being mado with tho New Zealand pavilion, and requests havo .been mado to him to tako steps to have the •work expedited as much as possible. Tho replies received to theso representations, however, havo not been so satisfactory as could bo wished. It will certainly be a great disappointment if tho efforts that havo been made to bo ready for tho opening of the oxhibition are' defeated by the dilatoriness of the resconsible officers of tha oxhibition."
