Yesterday the Union Company's ship Dartford, which'arrived .in the stream, from. Newcastle on Monday night, was granted pratique and berthed. She- brought a cargo consisting of 1700 tons of coiil for Wellington, and had an ; uneventful voyage across. A sharp lookout was kept for the Loch Lomond, but nothing' was seen of the vessel. Captain Cooper, who is in . command, is a son of Captain Cooper,who • was a well-known master in the Northern Company's service, ' of Auckland. Messrs. Hender and Williams are first and second mates respectively. After discharging here the vessel will be fitted up as a. training ship for the Union Company. A heavy sea.was running at the Heads,last night. The Wakatu, which sailed at 6.15 p.m., put back to port at 8.5 p.m., and the Waihi, which left the wharf at 6.30 p.m., returned at 8 p.m. Advice received reports that the A. and A. liner Gowanburn left New York on September 21 for Australian and New Zealand ports. Slio is due at Wellington about the middle of December. Yesterday morning the Arahura arrived in Westport from Greyinouth. She was timed to sail at 5 p.m., and should leave Nelson at 9 a.m. to-day, and .Picton at 1.30 p.m., arriving here early this 'evening. The local, agents advise that (ho Wanganui trader Stormbird, - which arrived yesterday morning, is to undergo annual overhaul and survey at Wellington prior to sailing again. Yesterday morning the Amokura left Picton for the Sounds in continuation of her cruise. The Tutanekai left Wellington yesterday after-noon-for "Dog Island, and is expected back next week. A Press Association telegram from Christchurch states that a black-painted, half-laden barque, probably the Marjory Glen, from Wellington to Dmiedin, was sighted from Lyttelton Heads, 20 miles off at 1 p.m. The wind being fresh south-west.-
