The Old Age Pensions Bill was put through Committee, and the report of the joint Parliamentary Buildings Site Committee was adopted, after an interesting discussion. The House yesterday got right down to solid business, and reduced the list of Bills on the order paper by ten; Some these could be classed as important. One measure, of particular interest to Wellingtonians was the Montal' Hospital Reserves Bill, which, amongst othor things, proposed to validate the oxchango of a portion of the Mount View asylum reserve for a piece of the Wellington Hospital Trustees' property, and to confer power to. cut up and lease the remaining fifty odd acres of the Mount View reserve. The Wellington members protested against the. proposals regarding the fifty acres on the plea that the land was really .a portion of the Town Belt reserve. Ultimately progress was reported upon the Bill. Tho most important Bills put through all stages were the Defence Act Amendment, Public Works Act Amendment, and the Milcation Act Amendment Bills. The amendments made in the Legislative Council to the Arbitration Bill were also derilt with. The greater'portion of the evening was devoted to the Workers'; Compensation for Accidents Billy
