ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
(BT TEI.EG ft A rH—r&ESS ASSOCIATION.) . PLUCKY RESCUE OF A BOY. Hokitiita, October 5. A little boy named Clarenco St. Georgo had a narrow escape from drowning yesterday. Ho fell into tho Hokitika River, and was caught on a snac on the bottom. A young man named William Wallace, loarning of the accident, promptly jumped into the river, but had to dive three times before ho could get the boy free and up to the surface. Tho lad was unconscious for some time after roscuo, but ultimately recovered, and undoubtedly owes his life to Wallace's bravo action. YOUNG MAN KILLED. Whangarel, October 5. ■ Nows received by tho police states that Robert. Nankiville, aged 23, was instantaneously killed in Mander and Bradley's Bush at Wairiki this morning. A FATAL FALL. ' Nelson, October 5. A woman named Catherine Dominea Osborno was found by hor husband this evening lying dead at tho foot of a flight of stairs in their residence. She had evidently tripped and fallen down stairs, her skull being fractured.
