The Australian Jockey Club's spring meeting commenced at Randwiok to-day in glorious weather, and there was a large attendance, among those present being the Govcr-nor-Gcneral, and the Governors of West Australia and New South Wales. Baw Bee, Lord Nolan, and Vavasor were the first to show out from a splendid start. ,Passing the stand Perkco and Mother Goose had a head's lead from Baw Bee and Monobel. Passing the Old Mill, Mother Goose and Perkco were leading from Monobel. Mother Goose and Perkco showed the way along the back from Monobel, Ariki, • and Lord Nolan, with the rest in closo order. Passing'the six furlongs, Perkco and Mother Goose-were in front, and Golden Slipper dropped back to last. Round the bond tho position of the leaders was unchanged, and Monobel was third, and Parsee had run into fourth place. Mother Goose, with Perkco, was first into the straight from Parsee and Monobel. At tho distance, Parsee, in' the centre, made a brilliant run, which carried him to the front, and going on ho beat Monobel comfortably by threo lengths, with Mother Goose a head away third. Golden Slipper tailed off last. Time, 2min. 38£soc. EPSOM HANDi6aP,. a handicap sweepstakes of 20 sovs. each, with 1000 sovs. added. For three-year-olds and upwards. It was a fairly good start, Proportion being the first to move from Sea King. When fairly going, Sea King led by a couple of lengths from Matchmaker, Proportion, ' Soultline, and War Star. At tho half-mile Soultline led by 1 a length from Sea King, with'lolairo two I lengths further off, and the rest of tho field ' fairly clustered. Rounding the bend, Soult- I line improved his position. Onco in tiio I straight lolaire joined Soultline, and tho pair led past the distance from Blue Book and Decollote, with Melodrama making his run on tho rails. At tho half distance Blue Book appeared to hnvti the race won, but Melodrama, finishing with great determination, won' by half a neck, lolaire a head away third, followed bv Kyeadgerie, Proportion, and Soultline. Seven started. Tho lield moved off in a cantor, Cross Battery leading from Mooltan and Peru, with Maranui last. Tho positions were unaltered until just before tho milo post, where Maranui assumed the lead, three lengths ahead of Cross Battery and Mooltan. Maranui, led along the back, a length and a half from Cross Battery. Then came Mooltan, Peru, and Welcome 'Prist, Sir Aymcr being last. At- the half-mile post Gross Battery joined Maranui, and tho pair led to the. straight from Mooltan and Peru. Near the distance. Mooltan took charge, and Sir Aymer put in a great run, but Mooltan won by three-quarters of a length. Peru was fourth, and Cross Battery fifth. Time, 2min. 45scc.
