SUPREME COURT. IN CHAMBERS. A sitting in Chambers was hold by tlio Chief Justice (Sir Cohort Stout) yesterday. Probate of the wills of the following deceased persons was granted:—Susan Hume, wife of John Hume, drover, of Greytown (Messrs. Gray and Jackson); Robert Lumsden, coal miner, of llunanga (Public Trustee); Anna Laurvig, spinster, of Shannon (Mr. A. A. iS.-Mcnte.ith). Letters of administration were granted in respect of the estates of the following deceased persons:—Mary Jano Arnold, married woman, of Foxhill, Province of Nelson (Public Trustee); Barbara M'Leod, spinster, of Hillside, Martinborough (Mr.' A. Dunn). A petition by Messrs. A. S. Paterson and Co. for tljo compulsory liquidation of : tho Mutual Trading Company, of Carterton, was then heard. , The petitioners wero acting'inconjunction with the Wellington creditors, who comprised practically three-fourths of i the unsecured creditors of the , company. Since tho fiiing of the petition for compulsory liquidation the company itself has gone into voluntary liquidation. The company opposed the petition 011 tho ground that a voluntary liquidation would be more satisfactory for both'creditors and shareholders. After hearing argument his Honour reserved judgment. Mr'. Blair appeared for the petitioners and Mr. Myers (with him Mr.-Robin-son) for the company.

CLAIM FOR COMMISSION. TURNBULL v. HARE AND DAVIDSON. Judgment was delivered yesterday by the Chief Justice in respect of the case of "\V. H. Tumbull and Co. versus Hare and Davidson, agreed to pay defendants £40, which they had convicted and discharged. „ Tho facts, briefly, were that the _ partifes entered, into an agreement to divide tho commission on business _ transacted in the Pahiatua district with clients introduced by the plaintiffs to tho defendants. Two properties were sold to AVilliam Russell Grace. In respect of the first property, one Oswald Johnstone received the commission, but agreed to pay defendants £40, which they agreed to divide with plaintiffs. Defendants denied that tho second property was sold through the introduction by tho plaintiffs. The amount which plaintiffs claimed was still owing to them was £72 7s. Id. His Honour gave judgment for plaintiffs for £71 2s. witlr costs on the lowest scale and witnesses's expenses and disbursements. ,Mr.""Hv" 'Johnston" appeared for"' plamtiffs,"' and Mr. D. M. Findlay for defendants.
