The tourist steam yacht Argonaut, whilo proceeding to the Mediterranean, foundered after colliding with the collier Kingswell during a fog in tho British Channel. All her complement—ll3 passengers and 118 crow—wore saved. A Frojicli lady lost jewels valued at £5000.
THE LOCH FINLAS. " CHIPS " DECLINED THE CAPTAIN'S INVITATION. (Rec. October 1, 1.10 a.m.) Hobart, September 30. When the Loch Finlas was sinking, Captain Lonnen appeared at the companionway and called out to tho carpenter: "Come down with me, 'Chips,' and wo will go down together." ' ■■ The carpenter declined. . He was one of the four who wero saved. SEAMAN'S BRAVERY. . Hobart, September 30.' Several smashed boats and other wreckage are coming ashore from "tho wreck of the barque Loch Finlas. Harrison, one of tho survivors, showed great heroism in assisting his exhausted companions during the long drift in the boat which landed between Cape Naturalist and Eddystone. He repeatedly risked his own life.
