NEW ZEALAND KENNEL CLUB,
Tho balance-shoet of the New Zealand Kennel Club'shows a credit of £31 19s. 7d., as against £33 ISs. lOd. brought forward at the beginning of last year. Since tho balance was struck another £4 4s. has come in, making the actual credit £36 3s. • 7d., which must be oonsidered very satisfactory. The balance-sheet is to be submitted to tho annual meeting, to be held on October 15. On that occasion tho Wellington Kennel Club will hiovo:— ' .. 1. That the New Zealand Kennel Club-bo requested to compile a judges' list, from which list all affiliated clubs must select their judges. The list to be compiled under the following (or amended) conditions: (a) All judges, at present acting, to bo included thereon, (b) All applicants for enrolment. to be nominated by an affiliated club, (c)-Applicants from cutsido New Zealand to provide tho N.Z.K.C. with satisfactory credentials as to character and ability .2. That in view of tho confusion that exists in the fancy as to what constitutes a challenge class, tho challenge class bo defined simply as follows: (a) The ■first prize-winner in every class, puppy included. (b) To bo judged again in the . ring after the ordinary class competitors, (c) The ivinner to recoivo £1 prize-money in addition to class prize-money, (d) A dog under 12 months to bo eligible for ono challenge :certificate only during his or - her puppyhood.- 3. That tho executive committee of the N.Z.K.C. be increased in numbers as follows: —Tho president, secretary, and treasurer to bo ex officio members of the executive, with four other meinbors—two from the North Island and two from tho South Island. 4. That in view of the unsatisfactory position existing regarding allocation of challenge breeds, it is-suggested that, in accordance with present ruling of tho N.Z.K.C. to allot two challengo classes to a breed, it is important that- such be allotted to each breed._ It is recognised that such cannot be done if oue challengo is restricted to each Island, but in fairness to breedors, if the awards cannot bo made to each Island—owing to the limited number of shows held in tho South Island —then it is considered only fair that the number of challengo classos at each show bo increased to allow of each breed having two challenges allotted each year in New Zealand. Tho Auckland Kennel Club will move 1. Rule 21, page 14. —Four challenge classes for four different breeds of dogs of both sexes shall be allotted to different clubs holding champion shows, and shall be allotted by the executive in tho proportion to the number of affiliated clubs in tho North and South Islands, hut no club shall ho entitled, to have challenge classes for the same breeds in any two consecutive years, and that no dogS i under 12 months be oligiblo for competition. 2. Rule 22, page 14.—Add after class competition, "or second prize when beaten by a puppy." 3. Rule 23, page 14.— ; Delete Rule 23. 4. Page 20. —Open class, insert "adult" before dogs in last line, and delete all words after breod to end of clause.
