Hearst, as to trusts purchasing tho services of prominent Republicans and Democrats, havo produced au unparalleled oifect. Both parties fear that more letters will be revealed, and it is expecte-l that they will be kept on tenter-hooks until election day, November 3. September 29, 11.26 p.m.)' New York, September 29. .President Roosevelt, in reply to Mr. Bryan, upholds tho sincerity of his Administration's prosecution of trusts. Referring to campaign funds, he declares that when trust contributions are given with no implied promise of immunity of tHo donors, they aro not ns bad as tho silver mino millionaires' largo individual contributions given in support of Mr. Bryan's first two silver . currency campaigns for tho specific reason that free coinage of silver would enhance the value of their properties. During the controversy concerning the Hnrriman letter Inst-' year, President Roosevelt is I reported to havo said that any man who subscribed campaign funds for tho Republican party, in the hope of securing political immunity for himself and his friends, was. a fool. And the "Daily Mail's" correspondent admitted that " ho has given the 'captains of finance' absolutely no political return for the immense sums they gave to the party campaign fund.'
