■ The double line of railway was opened yea. t-erday between the Hutt au,d Ngahauranga, and everything ran very smoothly, making pleasant riding for those who took advantage of the outing. - y's. The Pctone Brass Band gavo' an open-air performance on the Recreation' Ground yesterday afternoon. The weather was fine, and there, was a / good attendance of the public. , ;" A successful meeting Was held,at Mr. Maskell's, Upper Akataraway on Saturday evening, when a good number of' residents attended to' hear an address by Mr. T. Townsend, secretary of tho No-License League. The various aspects of the No-License question were dealt with, and much interest was shown by the audience. Songs were given by-Mr< W. H. Leverodge, Mrs.-Leveredge, and Mr. E. J. Beavis, and recitations by Mr. J. Dolahunty, Mr. W. Beavies, and Mr. Townsend. A local committee was formed, with Mr. E.- J. Beavis as convener, and Mr, L. Baigent as scrutineer.
