Danes at Coring Stroet. ' A delightful dance was given by Mrs: Wylie in- the Goring Street Hall on Wednesday night, when a number of young people were present. The walls were covered with flags and trails of lycopodium were festooned between the three chandeliers in the centre of the hall, from each of which hung a basket filled with spring flowers. The front •of the, stsze was decorated with greenery, and the stage itself furnished as a drawingroom, while screens judiciously-placed'made ccsy corncrs for those who were sitting out. Tho cupper table was decorated' with spring flowers. Sirs. Wylie wore a black crepe-de-chine frock made over silk, the bodice .much' trimmed with lace; Miss Wylie's pretty Empire frock was of' maize coloured miessaline satin with fichu of pale blue tissue, with touches of pink. Miss ; Partridgo wore green brocade with' chiffon and black lace; Miss Stoddard grey and black brocade, with'lrish lace; Miss Treadw'ell, white frock . with silver trimming; Miss Sinclair, white; Miss Knox, white and,silver; Miss Hoggard, old rose silk; Miss Kember, red satin; Miss Tewsley, sequined net over heliotrope silk;' Miss'Hannay, blue silk; Miss Seaton, white muslin; Mrs. Etherington,- pale blue silk; Miss Eileen Ward, frock of shell pink silk; Miss Hayward, white corded silk, trimmed with real .lace; L. .Lee, pink silk; and Miss D. Wilson, white frock with pale blue trimming.

Yesterday , morning, at Messrs. Kirkcaldie and Stains's tea-room, a very enjoyablo little morning-'tea was given by Miss Seatori to the members of. a. reading club to which she : belongs. . Kent Terrace Presbyterian Church was filled -interested spectators on Wednesday afternoon, when Miss Etta' Gibson, eldest daughter, of 'Mrs. P. F. Gibson, of Wellington, was , married to-Mr. Walter J. Thorpe, third son of tlio late Mr, Henry Thorpe, of Glebe Point, Sydney. The bride, wha, was given away by. Mr. Gcoi*go Klec, wore a dress of white silk taffeta with handsome lace trimming, and a dainty hat of white chiffon, trimmed with sprays of orange blossoms, arid she carried a shower bouquet, of clematis and lycopodium. The Misses Lillian and May Jilks, who were bridesmaids', wore pretty'white, muslin, frocks, and:white leghorn hats trimmed, with pink arid mauve and flowers and drooping veils. They carried beautiful bouquets. The bridegroom was attended by the-' bride's step-brother, Mr. Alex. Hobson. After .the ceremony, which was performed by the Rev. J. Kennedy Elliott, a! reception was held by the bride's mother at the Victoria Hall, Newtown. Tho annual social and dance of the Karori Bowling Club was held on Wednesday night m the Parochial Hall, Karori. The President, Mr. C. H.' Dickerson, in his opening speech, welcomed friends, from tho Victoria Club, and also remarked pleasantly on the courtesy which they had always been met with, on visiting that.club. He hoped tho visitors would find what Karori hospitality really was. A euchre tournanient was then begun, after which camo ' some enjoyable dances' and mrisical items. ' The vocalists were: Mrs. H. J. Taplay, Mrs. Simpson, Misse's Putnam, and Mr. War.brick. Miss Maloney acted as accompanist. On Saturday last Miss Flanagan, who has had chargO;-,gf rrrMessis;,!! Feist.'.'.and' Co.'s showroom at Petone for the past five years, and is leaving to be -married, was presented with a handsome overmantel; by the firm and with a cake basket by employees.
