DISCHARGED PRISONERS' AID SOCIETY.
A meeting of the Discharged Prisoners' Aid Society was held at the office of Dr. -M'Arthur, S.M., on Tuesday evening. There were present Dr.; M'Arthur -'(chairman)," Messrs. Edwin-Arnold, B. Cumings, E, L. Burgess, T. Lambert, and P: J. O'Rogan. The miuutes of the last meeting and the report of the secretary, showing--relief granted to 45 prisoners,' were read and adopted. The hon. secretary (Mr. A. S. Watson) reluctantly resigned his position,; owing to the possibility of his leaving tho Dominion. A unanimous vote of thanks was tendered Mr. Watson for. his past' wh'iw?.' and the members of the committee, decided, to present him with an ' iUnmitiat-od address as a token of their appreciation for his work in the founding and organisation of the society, Mr.' 8..' Cumings "was' tholi elected secretary and collector for the society, and a resolution of thanks was'also tendered him for past services. The sooiety has now been in existence for twelve months, and during that time has subsisted entirely on public subscriptions;. The secretary reported that tho funds on hand amounted- to £31 13s. 9d. The committee elected Brigadier Bray, of the Salvation Army, as a member of the committee, to roplacc Captain Tomer, who has left the district. . . ... ..
