NO-LICENSE MEETING.

ADDRESS BY THE REV. W. J. COMRIE; There was a'fairly large attendance at the No-Liccnse .meeting held in St. •Thomas's Hall, Nowtown, last night under the auspices of the' Star of 'Newtown Lodge, 1.0. G.T. Tlie chairman, Mr. D. M'Larch, in , the courso of a few introductory remarks,- urged supporters of No-License to maintain a vigorous attack upon License right up' to pol-ling-day.' '

The ltev. W. J. Comrie, who was greeted with considerable applause, referred : "-to arguments used by the opponents of No-Lic-ense.. In reply, he did not think it necessary to say more.than this: Electorates adjacent to No-License districts had abolished tho retail salo of liquor. It was "bis opinion that the No-Licenso party 'slio'uld work harder this year than, formerly, because tho other side was now bettor organised,• and had more money., at its .disposal than ever before. With regard to complaints that electors had filled in enrolment forms, which had never, been lodged,' lie. advised ..everybody who was, Canvassed to make' inquiries if notice of enrolment wero not received by them within , a brief period after they had filled up the form and handed it ,to ,the canvasser. In tho past sufficient attention had not been paid to bands of hope, good templars' societies, and other organisations for training the young, the result being that even, now many young people wore not fully acquainted with tho physical effects-of alcohol or tho economic sido of the drink question.

Christie; glee, "The House That Jack Built," the Musical Helpers.
